A New Chapter: RouteSmart Joins the FedEx Family 

RouteSmart Technologies is now part of FedEx, marking an exciting new chapter in our mission to deliver industry-leading route planning and optimization solutions. With the backing of a global logistics leader, we remain committed to serving waste collection, postal and parcel, public works, newspaper, utilities & field service industries—now with even greater resources to innovate and grow.

For more than 25 years, RouteSmart has worked alongside FedEx as a trusted partner delivering intelligent route planning and optimization solutions that drive global logistics.  

We are now excited to share a new milestone in our journey: RouteSmart Technologies has been acquired by FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), a move that reinforces our commitment to innovation, stability, and continued service to our clients and partners. 

Our headquarters will remain in Columbia, Maryland, and we will operate as a standalone entity under FedEx Dataworks, which is a direct subsidiary of Federal Express Corporation. 

Why This Matters

FedEx has been a long-standing client of ours, using Routing as a Service (RaaS) in its ground operations for many years. RaaS serves as the backbone for FedEx Route Optimization (FRO), which the company is rolling out globally as part of its ongoing network transformation. 

With more than 40 years of expertise in providing mission-critical technology to newspaper, postal & parcel, public works, utilities & field service, and waste collection organization worldwide, we now join forces with FedEx. The combination of our leading technology solutions with FedEx’s unparalleled physical and data networks will enable the world’s largest express transportation provider to further drive efficiency across its own global operations, while also strengthening the company’s suite of technology solutions.
