We have worked with our clients in the waste management sector to figure out how to make our routes as efficient as possible. You already know that our solutions work to minimize travel time and distance while servicing your customers, but there’s more to your route than that.

One way we found to reduce time and frustration for drivers is to minimize time spent around intermediate facilities. Drivers don’t want to wait for the transfer station or landfill to open in the morning and they know it gets crowded during certain times of the day (for example lunch time or end of day).

Intermediate Facility Time available via the RaaS API and RouteSmart for ArcGIS®

This is why we allow you to specify preferred times through a feature called Intermediate Facility Time Windows, available via the RaaS API as well as in RouteSmart for ArcGIS®. RouteSmart users can easily set this up by providing earliest and latest arrival times for each of their intermediate facilities.

While commercial and residential waste collection routes are impacted by this setting, roll-off routes probably benefit the most because of the numerous different types of material and only a subset of the intermediate facilities accepts a specific material.
