AU-002 INTRODUCTION TO STREET SERVICE ROUTING

RouteSmart’s powerful street service routing tools in RouteSmart for ArcGIS make planning your street sweeping and snow plow routes a snap. Street service routing is also useful for planning solid waste and recycling routes. Instead of basing routes on service locations, the streets themselves become the point of service in street service routing (no geocoding). Learn how to prepare your street layer, set parameters such as intake/flow rate, and generate new routes and detailed maps and reports. More +

Course Benefits

Street service routing focuses on using the streets in your service territory
as the actual service points for route planning. The course is comprehensive
and provides a solid understanding of the overall street service routing
process, to give you the tools you need to solve street routing problems.

Topics Covered

Working with your map, working with your attribute data, creating your
workspace, importing your street and facility data, preparing your street
layer, creating your street service layer, benchmarking your data, generating
scenarios, editing scenarios, creating maps and exporting, editing streets,
and maintaining RouteSmart for ArcGIS

If you’ve ever wished you could streamline the routing process, this is your opportunity. During the seminar, you will create and run many RML scripts and discuss numerous ideas of how and what you can automate in RouteSmart for ArcGIS. More +

Course Benefits

With the RouteSmart Macro Language, you can keep your investment
in RouteSmart for ArcGIS working for you, even when you’re not around!
Create scripts to call or string together various RouteSmart procedures
automatically. These scripts can be run from within RouteSmart (interactively) or from a command-line argument to run automatically as part of a batch process.

Topics Covered

RML script syntax, Import Wizard commands, geocoding commands,
selection commands, table commands, network commands, parameter
commands, solver commands, solution commands, ArcMap commands,
metascript commands, and running or automating an RML script.

NU-002 INTRODUCTION TO AUTOMATED METER READING

In traditional routing, service locations are serviced by traversing the street in which the point is assigned. This method does not always create the most efficient routes, though. For instance, what if service locations can be serviced by multiple streets in the area? The Automated Meter Reading (AMR) solution addresses this problem exactly. With RouteSmart’s innovative tools, service locations can be identified as have a range of distance from which they can be serviced. RouteSmart is then able to understand the minimal amount of streets needed in order to service all the service locations. As a result, the routes created with the AMR solution minimize travel distance and time far beyond the traditional solution. And because AMR routes do not need to stop at each location, each route can service a greater number of meters in a work day, which in turn can lead to fewer total routes being necessary for a service territory. More +

Course Benefits

The Automated Meter Reading (AMR) routing tools in RouteSmart for ArcGIS
address the shift in the Utility industry from manual meter reading to
automated meter reading. The RouteSmart AMR tools use meter read
ranges in your data to create routes that minimize the required streets to be
traveled in order to retrieve all reads, while decreasing distance traveled
and creating more geographically compact routes.

Topics Covered

Read range values, service speeds, buffer layers, coverage tables, changing
ranges and buffer scenarios, AMR selection and visualization tools,
generating routes, cycle days, advanced scenarios, travel path changes,
zone priority, sequence cross penalty, and exporting to TomTom.

Prerequisite(s)

NU-003 INTRODUCTION TO MULTI-DAY ROUTING

Servicing locations with a variety of frequencies can make for a complex routing problem, especially when you need to balance your workload between days and weeks. The multi-day routing feature in RouteSmart for ArcGIS is a comprehensive set of tools and reports that assist you in balancing customers, simplifying the routing process and tracking the results. In this two-day seminar, you’ll define which weekday combinations are available for each frequency of service. After you set up these parameters, RouteSmart’s solver will shift service days (or even weeks, when applicable) for the locations of your choice to create more balanced routing scenarios. More +

Course Benefits

Multi-day focuses on balancing service workload in workspaces where the
same stop is picked up multiple times in a week or in a month. The course
contents walk you through the customizable process of maintaining
frequency while day shifting, including how to set specific patterns of
service and lock specific stops to their current service assignment.

Topics Covered

Importing your service location layer, creating your service day layer,
benchmarking your data, creating service patterns, balancing your service days,
editing scenarios, saving solutions, creating maps and exporting results.

NU-004 INTRODUCTION TO ROLL-OFF

Designed for waste and material hauling, this condensed one-day seminar covers everything you need to know in order to service roll-off containers. Our comprehensive algorithm will consider your service needs, such as swapping, removing, delivering containers, and more. Set varying service times by container type and tell us about your mixed fleet, like which facility each truck starts from and when. We’ll cover how to fine-tune your geocoding, if needed, and save of any changes so you can remember your preferences in the future. Next, you’ll learn how to specify which facility can accept specific material types and/or store containers. Then watch RouteSmart’s powerful solvers deliver results to RouteSmart for ArcGIS from RaaS, RouteSmart’s cloud-based service. With these solvers, you’ll create new route assignments for your day or sequence new or existing routes, considering all of the possible network attributes you wish to consider. This seminar will also cover how to analyze your roll-off routing results using several specialized reports and output your results so your drivers can start driving their routes right away. More +

Course Benefits

Our roll-off solution is designed to help plan which containers are serviced by which trucks as well as how each truck should optimally drive and service their roll-on/roll-off containers. The seminar chapters walk you through how to enter several required data inputs and then plan the routes, including balancing the workload and establishing a sequence that will consider varying types of facility trips.

Topics Covered

Importing your service location layer, geocoding or assigning streets, benchmarking your data, balancing your routes, creating optimized sequences, editing scenarios, saving solutions, creating maps and exporting results.
